G'day,
The other night, while endlessly scrolling through Reddit (as you do), I stumbled upon a thread in the r/Parenting community that felt incredibly familiar. The title was: "How to stop my toddler from drawing on the walls?"
Sound familiar? I thought so.
One parent was at their wit's end, perfectly describing a struggle so many of us know:
"Just that it's gotten to the point where we can give her any pencil or crayon. If we do she beeline straight for the wall. We even have to start counting all her art supplies course she started hiding pencils and crayons. Any advice would be much appreciated."
And the comments section was a goldmine of shared experiences and well-meaning, but often complicated, advice from parents in the trenches.
There was the "Fort Knox" approach:
"I don't let my toddler leave the table with play doh or pencils... You're probably going to have to be consistent and only let them draw when supervised."
And the "High-Chair Lockdown" strategy:
"...we would put our son in the high chair to color, buckled him in and put him in the middle of the room away from any walls. When he wasn’t in that, the art supplies were in a child proofed cabinet... Markers and paint are for high chair only still..."
These are real stories from parents who, just like us, are filled with so much love for their kids... and a matching level of anxiety about their walls.
It got me thinking. We go to such lengths to manage the chaos, but what if we didn't have to? What if we could embrace that "beeline to the wall" instinct instead of fighting it?
This is exactly why we created the WipeWonder™ Reusable Whiteboard Wall Sticker. It’s the simple answer to a problem that’s clearly not so simple.
One Redditor wisely pointed out:
"She might just prefer to draw standing up, get her an easel and redirect her to draw there every time instead... Also check and make sure the space you'd like her to sit in is comfortable."
This is spot on. And it’s why our WipeWonder™ series comes in all sorts of sizes. You can start with a smaller 45cm strip to create a focused art zone, go for a 90cm height for bigger kids to create life-sized doodles, or even grab a 120cm mega-roll for the whole family to jump in on the fun.
Now, some of the other suggestions were brilliant in their own right. One parent suggested:
“Big roll of paper, tape it to the wall. Butcher paper is the English name, I think?”
A great idea! But when I looked it up, a single roll of butcher paper can cost anywhere from $45 to $165. For something you use once and throw away, that adds up. Our 45cm x 200cm WipeWonder™ Roll is just $34.62, and the best part? It's endlessly reusable. No tape needed, and no recurring costs.
Another parent had a classic, thrifty solution:
“Enjoy it! I found a large pallet box for shipping stuff 1,5mx1, 5m x1, 5m and they draw on it. Now we are on the third layer!”
We love this resourcefulness! (Especially if you're swimming in online shopping boxes).
But at the end of the day, our mission is to help you find that perfect balance: letting your child's creativity run wild while keeping your home beautiful and your costs down.
It all comes back to what another parent in that thread said so perfectly:
“...decided to give him one wall just for coloring... do not deny him/her of access. They need to express themselves.”
That’s the heart of it. Our job isn't to deny them, but to guide them. To give them the space to be themselves.
And with WipeWonder™, you can finally give them that space—no stress attached.
